I've decided to document some of the things I've done, both hardware and software wise, to my EeePC 901 12G XP. Feel free to comment or question.

I had WinXP Home on it for a while, and when it got too be too slow for me, I threw Gentoo Linux on it. Took me quite a while to figure out how to boot from a flashdrive (or was it the sd card?), chroot in and install the base system. Yes, I believe I was booting Gentoo from the SD Card for a while, with WinXP still on the internal. Once inside and the MBR of the 4GB SSD was written with grub, it was a piece of cake. For the most part.
Since I was already booting from the SD Card, once I wiped WinXP and put Gentoo on the 4GB and 8GB SSDs, I had a backup recovery disk in the form of the SD Card. Very handy when an update breaks things, or when a kernel is messing around with my disk labels.
